Family Portraits

Family Photography FAQ
-
You’ll receive your photos in an online gallery two weeks after your session.
-
I don’t offer prints directly, but all my packages include high-resolution image files that you are welcome to print. I am happy to recommend printing services.
-
The best time for family photos is usually during the golden hour (late afternoon around sunset). The golden light we get during this time is the most flattering light for portraits.
-
I generally recommend soft, muted colors in neutrals or pastels such as denims, blues, creams, etc. These colors work really well in natural locations. It’s best to avoid bright colors and bold patterns/stripes, if possible.
-
A good place to start is with coordinating outfits (see the above question for recommendations). Another important step is choosing a location for the family photoshoot. If you’re not sure where you want to have the shoot, I’m happy to make location recommendations.
-
Family photo sessions usually last between 45 minutes and an hour. This gives us the time we need to capture a variety of candid shots, posed shots, and groupings.
-
It’s totally normal for kids to be excited during a family photoshoot, and my approach is to embrace their energy! The first part of our session will often include candid shots that provide an outlet for the excitement, and we’ll save the more posed photos for later on.

RAW, unedited images are not available for purchase, simply because they are not the finished product as I envision it. My editing process is as much a part of my artistic vision as the way I shoot each photograph, ensuring the final images look their best.
