Your Questions, Answered

  • If the forecast looks truly uncooperative, I’ll touch base 24–48 hours before your session to decide on a reschedule date. My goal is always to ensure you have the best light and most comfortable environment for your portraits.

  • That’s totally ok! Family photo sessions aren’t about perfect behavior. They’re about capturing real emotions and your kids as they are in this stage of life. My goal is to direct a laidback session that feels more like a fun family adventure — we just happen to be capturing memories along the way.

  • It’s totally normal to feel a little apprehensive about having your picture taken. I’m here to make the process as stress-free as possible. For posed shots, I come prepared with sample pictures and poses tailored to your family group. But for much of the session, my goal is to encourage natural interactions between you and your loved ones. I’ll offer prompts and games to help everyone feel relaxed — and even draw out some genuine smiles, giggles and belly laughs.

  • I’m based in beautiful Golden, Colorado. While most of my sessions take place within an hour of Golden, I’m happy to discuss sessions further afield. Just reach out and let me know what you have in mind!

  • With nearly 20 years of experience in commercial and editorial photography, I bring a "timeless editorial" approach to family and pet portraits. This means I focus on clean compositions, high-end lighting, and authentic moments. I want your photos to look like they belong in a magazine, while still feeling 100% like you.

  • The best time for family photos is usually during the golden hour (late afternoon around sunset). The golden light we get during this time is the most flattering light for portraits.

  • To ensure your preferred date (especially for weekend and autumn sessions), I recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks in advance. That said, don’t hesitate to check in for last-minute availability!

  • Absolutely! Pets are part of the family, and I specialize in capturing the unique bond between pet parents and pets.

  • Generally, I recommend neutral tones, textures, and layers that complement the Colorado landscape. Avoid heavy logos or overly matching outfits.

  • Yes, all of my packages include high-resolution digital files with personal printing rights. You’ll receive your photos within two weeks of your session.

  • A good place to start is with coordinating outfits (see the above question for recommendations). Another important step is choosing a location for the family photoshoot. If you’re not sure where you want to have the shoot, I’m happy to make location recommendations.

  • RAW, unedited images are not available for purchase, simply because they are not the finished product as I envision it. My editing process is as much a part of my artistic vision as the way I shoot each photograph, ensuring the final images look their best.
